Solid Waste
Overview

The City of Casselberry itself does not collect trash or garbage; operate a landfill, transfer station or any other solid waste disposal facility. Casselberry's franchised hauler utilizes the Seminole County-owned Transfer Station for transportation to the County landfill.

Garbage pick-up within the City is mandatory with active water service to include residential collection, recycling, and commercial collection. The collection and removal of materials discarded by the public is a service imperative to public health and safety.

Service for the management of solid waste is determined by the location of the home or commercial development. The implementation of the recycling program in 1991 was designed to reduce the solid waste stream being landfilled by 30% as mandated by the Florida Solid Waste Management Act.

This curbside source-separated program includes newspaper, clear glass, aluminum cans and plastic. The materials are picked-up by the regular waste hauler and taken to the Central Transfer Station.
