City of Casselberry:  A team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) will arrive Tuesday November 15, 2016 to examine all aspects of the Casselberry Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. The Casselberry Police Department will be demonstrating compliance with approximately 260 best practice standards in order to renew our accredited status.
Many of the standards are critical to life, health and safety issues. These standards demonstrate the department’s dedication to delivering the most professional law enforcement service possible to the community.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team.  A copy of the standards is available through Casselberry Police Department’s Public Information Officer, Commander William Nas, at 407-262-7616 extension 1030 or

The Accreditation Program Manager for the Casselberry Police Department is Officer Laura Chitty. She reports the assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar agencies who have advanced, specialized training in reviewing law enforcement agencies. The assessment team will review written materials, interview employees, ride along with officers, and inspect office space and other places where compliance can be witnessed to certify the department is following all the standards that have been set by CFA.  Once the CFA assessors complete their review of the agency, they will report their findings to the Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to receive accredited status.

The re-accreditation cycle is every 3 years and the men and women of the Casselberry Police Department are looking forward to the process to attain re-accreditation by CFA.  Verification by the team that the Casselberry Police Department meets the Commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process to gain or maintain accreditation--a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.
