The primary functions of Accounting are:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal control systems that ensure an accurate recording of transactions in accordance with generally accepted government accounting standards
  • Provide compliance with all federal, state and local laws
  • Ensures accountability for the sources and uses of City revenue, and provides adequate safeguarding of City assets
  • Provide timely and useful financial information and analyses to assist management in making informed, effective decisions involving the finances of the City
  • Process, reports and manage the City revenues to insure maximum timely collection
  • Manage City investments in accordance with applicable policy and law to provide maximum returns with reasonable security
  • Assure sufficient working capital by providing available funds, when needed
