About our City

The City of Casselberry is located in the southernmost portion of Seminole County in Central Florida. Casselberry is 10 miles north of downtown Orlando, 10 miles from the Orlando Executive Airport, 11 miles from the expanding Orlando Sanford International Airport, and approximately 17 miles from the Orlando International Airport. With Interstate 4 only 5 minutes away and the 2 major thoroughfares, State Road 436 and U.S. Highway 17-92, plus Sunrail the commuter rail, convenient access is provided to any direction one chooses.

Demographics

The City population remains steady through the challenging economic times. Affordable housing options coupled with a great Central Florida location has allowed for the continuation of homes to sell and apartments to lease. Casselberry stands strong with a job market that includes a wide spectrum of companies positioned for growth.

Casselberry is located along two major corridors that allow for convenient access to the area’s 23 educational institutions. These include K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and specialty schools. Our public schools fall within the Seminole County Public Schools District and are A/B schools. South Seminole Middle School is a Leadership and Global Connections magnet school. The program is designed to spark a student’s initiative and leadership potential in a global society. Information for several of these schools can be found in the Links section.

Employment

There is an abundant labor pool of area residents and close proximity of educational and vocational schools for training entrepreneurs. The unemployment rate in the City and the Seminole County area has been consistently lower than the State of Florida’s level. As of August 2011, the City shows an unemployment rate of 9.6%, the County unemployment rate was 9.7% while the State of Florida has an unemployment rate of 10.9%.
