The Art House is delighted to offer art students young and old the opportunity to hone their skills in one of our many art classes and workshops.

Taking place afternoons and evenings on Monday through Friday all year round, Art House art classes are offered in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, oil painting, acrylics, alcohol inks, ceramics, and more.

The following classes are currently being offered at the Art House:

Adult Art Classes

Alcohol Inks
Mon. 6:30 – 8:30 pm
If you’ve heard about Alcohol Inks but are not sure where to start, this is the place! Learn how to use this exciting medium and be ready to be challenged a little. Instructor Patty Nowell will guide students in this fun process that offers the artist unparalleled spontaneity and freedom. If you are looking to "loosen up," this is the medium for you! This class is perfect for beginners, but experienced dabblers of alcohol inks are also welcome.  Supplies are not included; a supply list is provided online for the class.

Ceramics (Two Classes Available)
Mon. 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Weds. 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Bring clay to life through exploration of form, scale, proportion, surface and narrative possibilities ceramic sculpture. Learn various handbuilding techniques and surface treatments including both ceramic and cold-finish options. Session runs for 6 weeks. 25 lbs. of clay per six-week session and basic tools are provided.

Water Color (Two Classes Available)
Tues. 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Thurs. 6:00 – 8:00 pm
During this six week session we will discuss tools and materials, learn the basic washes and brush strokes, and practice together each step of the way. Supplies are not included; a supply list is posted under the activity photo for downloading.

Oil Painting (Two Classes Available)
Tues. 2:30 – 4:30pm
Tues. 6:00 – 8:00 pm
During this six week session, instructor Gary Sisco will lead students in discussion of tools and materials, learn-ing techniques, and practicing together each step of the way. Supplies are not included; a supply list is posted below for downloading.

Acrylic Painting
Wed. 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Instructor Ulysses Mora will take you through a journey of artist skills through still life painting. He speaks both Spanish and English. In this exciting class you will learn how to create a still life with different fruits and vegetables while working on perspective, volume, color, and the anatomy of the fruit. Please bring a canvas to class on the first night. Supplies are not included; there will be a supply list given on the first night of class.

Youth Art Classes

Artists Wanted!
Wed. 4:00 – 6:00 pm
If you loved Recycle Box, you'll love Artists Wanted!  2016 Seminole County Artist of the Year, Marla E, takes young art students on a journey through line, color, shape, texture, creativity, and fun. There are no rules in this art class except to use your imagination! Supplies included.  Ages: 5 to 11.

Teen Urban Art 
Thurs. 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Art workshop geared for teens. Learn art techniques using different mediums, design, paint, 3-D, urban plaster, clay. Interact with group projects. Look up photos, reference pics and videos during class and listen to music while you create. Cellphones welcome! Ages 12 to 18.

Workshops

Zentangle Workshop
Thurs 10 am & 2:30 pm
Adele Bruno leads this workshop that explores the wonderful and uplifting method and artform of Zentangle. The Zentangle method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well-being. Supplies are included!

Community Art Groups

Senior Art Group
Fri. 12 pm - 4pm
This FREE class for senior artists meets once a week to celebrate the glories of artistic expression. Come make art with friends. Art supplies not included.
