Autumn “Rock n’ Run” 5k 2008

Autumn Rock n RunThe City of Casselberry hosted the Track Shack Autumn "Rock n’ Run" 5k race in Casselberry on September 13, 2008. The race was officially started by the City Manager, Barbara Lipscomb, who welcomed over 1600 participants as they toed the line at 7:30 am.

Both runners and walkers enjoyed the scenic 3.1-mile route that started and finished beneath the shade of 100-year old oak trees on Lake Concord. The race route continued through several residential communities and parks with live music provided by Swami and Salami Band, Don Beem on the Steel Drums, Group Therapy and Paul Spivey on the drums kept everyone’s running rhythm rockin'.

After the race finished, the Casselberry Art House held an open house to showcase the current exhibit titled "Hot Rod Art" by Dan Erminger and Nate Burcham. The race concluded with a free Kid’s Fun Run and award ceremony with residents, Rich Hunsicker (23:47) and Adena Young (25:29), receiving a special award for the fastest Casselberry male and female runner. Proceeds from the Autumn Rock 'n' Run 5k will support cultural arts organizations in our community.
