The Art House is delighted to offer art students of all ages the opportunity to hone their skills in any one of the many art classes and workshops it hosts throughout the year.
Taking place afternoons and evenings on Monday through Friday all year round, Art House art classes are offered in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, oil painting, acrylics, ceramics, mixed media and more.
New in 2020, the Art House offers several virtual art class opportunities, with live lessons with Art House instructors and all art supplies included. A computer or mobile device capable of virtual meetings is required.
The following classes are currently being offered at the Art House:
VIRTUAL ART CLASSES
During this 6-week virtual art class, each Wednesday afternoon, instructor Emma Pittelman will meet via Zoom with students ages 6 to 13 years old and lead them through an exploration of form, scale, proportion, surface, and narrative possibilities of ceramic sculpture. Students will learn handbuilding techniques and surface treatments including pinch pots, coil building, and various design and carving techniques. Art supplies provided by the Art House includes: over 10 pounds of clay, an assortment of acrylic paints, paint brushes and pallets, as well as a variety of clay tools for carving, cutting, and scoring. Ages 6 to 13 years old.
Tuesday 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A new spin on an old favorite! Teen Urban Art is digital, with Marla E leading online art lessons for kids ages 11 to 18 years old. Students will learn art techniques using different mediums, designs, and paints, as well as 3-D artwork using urban plaster, clay, and other mixed media. All art supplies are provided by the Art House, and this fun virtual class session runs for 6 weeks. Ages 11 to 18 years old.
Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Instructor Ulysses Mora takes students on a virtual artistic journey using acrylic paints to create still life paintings from the safety of their own homes. In this exciting class, which is great for English or Spanish language speakers, students will learn how to create a still life with different fruits and vegetables while working on perspective, volume, color, and the anatomy of the fruit, all under the close guidance of one of the Art House's most respected instructors. Supplies are not included; students are asked to have acrylic paints and a 16" x 20" canvas on the first night of class. This virtual class session runs for 6 weeks. Students ages 10 and up welcome.
ADULT ART CLASSES (All in-person art classes suspended until further notice.)
Monday 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
This open studio presents an opportunity for advanced ceramics students to continue working on projects beyond their regular instruction time. Prerequisite: Students enrolled in the Open Studio must also be enrolled in regular Ceramics on Wednesday evenings.
Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
During this six-week session, instructor Gary Sisco will lead students in discussion of tools and materials, learning techniques, and practicing together each step of the way. Supplies are not included; a supply list is posted on the registration website for downloading.
Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Learn various handbuilding techniques and surface treatments including both ceramic and cold-finish options. Session runs for 6 weeks. 25 pounds of clay per six-week session and basic tools are provided.
Thursday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Students with lots or little knowledge of watercolors are encouraged to enroll in this six-week session led by renowned painter, Michele Sentouktsi. Through the class, students will improve their painting skills and insight, improve their skills in design and composition, and learn to find their own style/voice in watercolor painting. Supplies are not included; a supply list is posted on the registration website for downloading.
YOUTH ART CLASSES
Tuesday 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Art workshop geared for teens. Learn art techniques using different mediums, design, paint, 3-D, urban plaster, clay. Interact with group projects. Look up photos, reference pics and videos during class and listen to music while you create. Cellphones welcome! Session runs for 6 weeks. Ages 12 to 18.
Days Vary (Monthly) Adele Bruno leads this workshop that explores the wonderful and uplifting method and art form of Zentangle. The Zentangle method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well-being. Supplies are included! Check schedule for exact dates and times.
COMMUNITY ART GROUP
Senior Painting Group
Friday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This FREE studio for senior artists meets once a week to celebrate the glories of artistic expression. Come make art with friends. Art supplies not included.
All students must reserve a seat in class by registering online and paying applicable reservation, materials, and non-resident fees. Remaining tuition payment is made directly to instructors during the first class.
