The Art House is delighted to offer art students of all ages the opportunity to hone their skills in any one of the many art classes and workshops it hosts throughout the year.

Taking place afternoons and evenings on Monday through Friday all year round, Art House art classes are offered in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, oil painting, acrylics, ceramics, mixed media and more.

The following classes are currently being offered at the Art House:

ADULT ART CLASSES

Ceramics Open Studio

Monday 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This open studio presents an opportunity for advanced ceramics students to continue working on projects beyond their regular instruction time.  Prerequisite: Students enrolled in the Open Studio must also be enrolled in regular Ceramics on Wednesday evenings.

Oil Painting

Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

During this six-week session, instructor Gary Sisco will lead students in discussion of tools and materials, learning techniques, and practicing together each step of the way. Supplies are not included; a supply list is posted on the registration website for downloading.

Acrylic Painting

Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Instructor Ulysses Mora will take you through a journey of artist skills through still life painting. He speaks both Spanish and English. In this exciting class you will learn how to create a still life with different fruits and vegetables while working on perspective, volume, color, and the anatomy of the fruit. Please bring a canvas to class on the first night. Supplies are not included; there will be a supply list given on the first night of class. Session runs for 6 weeks. Students ages 10 and up welcome.

Ceramics

Wednesday 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Instructor Anne Hollander helps students bring clay to life through exploration of form, scale, proportion, surface and narrative possibilities ceramic sculpture. Learn various handbuilding techniques and surface treatments including both ceramic and cold-finish options. Session runs for 6 weeks. 25 pounds of clay per six-week session and basic tools are provided.

Watercolors

Thursday 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Students with lots or little knowledge of watercolors are encouraged to enroll in this six-week session led by renowned painter, PJ Svejda. Through the class, students will improve their painting skills and insight, improve their skills in design and composition, and learn to find their own style/voice in watercolor painting. Supplies are not included; a supply list is posted on the registration website for downloading.

YOUTH ART CLASSES

Teen Urban Art 

Tuesday 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Art workshop geared for teens. Learn art techniques using different mediums, design, paint, 3-D, urban plaster, clay. Interact with group projects. Look up photos, reference pics and videos during class and listen to music while you create. Cellphones welcome! Session runs for 6 weeks. Ages 12 to 18.

MONTHLY WORKSHOPS

Zentangle Workshop

Days Vary (Monthly) Adele Bruno leads this workshop that explores the wonderful and uplifting method and art form of Zentangle. The Zentangle method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well-being. Supplies are included! Check schedule for exact dates and times.

COMMUNITY ART GROUP

Senior Painting Group

Friday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This FREE studio for senior artists meets once a week to celebrate the glories of artistic expression. Come make art with friends. Art supplies not included.

All students must reserve a seat in class by registering online and paying applicable reservation, materials, and non-resident fees.  Remaining tuition payment is made directly to instructors during the first class.
