Single/Sole Source Purchase Description
This information is designed to inform the supplier community and the public that the City of Casselberry, a municipal corporation existing under the laws of the State of Florida, intends to enter into a non-competitive Agreement to purchase a product and or service.
This description of commodities or contractual services intended for purchase from a single source is posted in accordance with section 287.057(5c), Florida Statutes and will remain posted for a period of at least seven (7) business days. Notice is hereby given that the following product/service may be a single source.
Commodity Code of Requested Product/Service: 060 – Automotive and Trailer Equipment Manufacturer, Model, and Description, as appropriate: DC420 – Lift stations 2005 International Vac-Con (white) DC450 – D&C’s 2016 Freightliner Vac-Con (blue) SW395 – Stormwater’s 2017 Freightliner Vac-Con (wrapped w/graphics) SW399 – Stormwater’s 2020 Global Sweeper Quantity: Four (4) Vehicles Requestor: Tara Lamoureux, P.E. Performance and/or Design Requirements: These vehicles are specialized equipment that are used for repairing and maintaining the City’s water, wastewater, and stormwater systems which cost upwards of $600,000 to fully replace. The Lift Stations 2005 International Vac-Con is used for cleaning out debris, fats, oils and greases from lift station wet wells. Distribution & Collection’s 2016 Freightliner Vac-Con is using for cleaning manholes, the gravity sewer system, and to help with excavation during utility repairs. Stormwater’s 2017 Freightliner Vac-Con is used to clean debris and dirt out of stormwater manholes and piping. Stormwater’s 2020 Global Sweeper is used to clean debris including trash, dirt and vegetation from the roadways. Vac-Cons use a three-stage fan which is less dangerous then the positive displacement blower that is used in other vacuum trucks. Vac-Cons have been purchased by the City over the last several years for this purpose as well as their durability. However, regular repair, maintenance, and replacement of certain components of the equipment will still need to regularly occur. Justification for single source acquisition: Southern Sewer Equipment Sales is the authorized Vac-Con Dealer for the municipal market for sales, parts, and service in the state of Florida for combination and jetting units. |
