Construction of the Sunset Drive Livable Street Improvements Project began on March 6, 2023 and is expected to be complete within the next 12 months. This Federally-funded project will encompass the narrowing of travel lanes along Sunset Drive (from Oxford Road to Button Road), reconstruction of the northbound lane, milling and resurfacing, curb and gutter repair, installation of a shared-use path, utility modifications, landscaping, lighting, raised crosswalks, on-street parking at Sunset Park, Overbrook intersection improvements, and other complete street-oriented enhancements along the corridor. Currently, the City's contractor is working on the north end of Sunset Drive near Button Road. This work requires partial and complete closures of Sunset Drive. Phase 1 of construction is from Button Road to Oak Park Place. The northbound traffic on Sunset Drive is closed to thru traffic and will remain closed until 3/31/23, followed by closing of the southbound traffic from 3/31/23 through 5/11/23.
